Dear fellow FLAs,

How time flies! We are almost into mid-year. School’s out and families with primary school children will be spending time having fun and bonding together. Those of us with HR may perhaps organise a company family day during this period. It’s opportune to galvanise on the greater family spirit, as Singapore comes together for National Family Celebrations  (NFC) 2010 from 25 May to 26 June this year.

Next two months promise to be fun-filled and heartwarming as events suitable for all ages, gender and family sizes are lined up back-to-back. Whether the inclination is to have some quiet together time or adrenalin-pumping bonding affair, we are set to satisfy you!

Family Day Out

Date: 29 May

The Family Coach is BACK. In this issue, our resident family life education expert, Mr Simon Sim, the former General Manager of TOUCH Community Services and the author of ‘The Family CEO: Building A Happy and Successful Family’, let us in on his secrets to successful intergenerational bonding.

"Family bonding need not be elusive. It must be inclusive but not intrusive. Don’t give up when your ‘growing up’ children don’t seem to want you in their space. When you don’t seem to get big enough chunks of time with them, savour the little bits.
